Next Steps After Your Intake

Note - Every lost pet case is unique. Time is critical - begin your search immediately in the area where your pet was last seen. After you complete the intake, sign in to view analysis tailored to your case.

Immediate Actions (Next 24-48 Hours)

1. Search the Immediate Area

Indoor cats typically don’t go far — check within a 3-5 house radius. Outdoor-access cats may roam farther but rarely past a quarter mile from home unless chased. Look under porches, in bushes, under cars, in garages.

2. Leave Familiar Items Outside

Place their litter box, bedding, or your worn clothing outside your home. The familiar scent can help guide them back.

3. Alert Your Neighbors

Knock on doors within a 3-block radius. Ask neighbors to check garages, sheds, and crawl spaces. Many pets are found on neighbors’ properties.

4. Post on Social Media & Lost Pet Sites

Share on local Facebook groups, Nextdoor, Pawboost, and local lost pet pages. Include a clear photo and last seen location.
